Roasted Chickpeas
With the recent published Lancet Planetary Diet and updated Canada Food Guide, it couldn’t be a better time to chat about plant-based sources of protein.
An easy and delicious snack, roasted chickpeas are great toppings for your leafy green salad or as a crunchy afternoon snack. Chickpeas are great sources of fibre and protein. In 1 cup, you can find ~15g of protein and 8g of fibre.

Roasted Chickpeas
Ingredients
- 1 540 ml can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F.
- Once the chickpeas are drained and rinsed, pat them dry with a tea towel or paper towel.
- In a medium bowl, toss chickpeas with the olive oil and spices.
- Place the chickpeas on a baking tray, and cook for 30-40 minutes or until they reach your desired texture.
- Let them cool before storing in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Enjoy!
