Lemon Tahini Sauce
A favourite way to amp up the flavour of some classic dishes like stir-frys is this Lemon Tahini Sauce. Tahini is the paste of sesame seeds and provides a bit of a nutty flavour. For every 2 tbsp of tahini, it contributes:
- 7 grams of protein
- 3 grams of fibre and
- 15% of your daily recommended iron!
Pairing it with the citrusy lemon juice and some savoury garlic makes this sauce a powerhouse of a condiment. Enjoy this on a tofu scramble, shrimp salad, vegetable sides or your favourite sandwich or burger!

Lemon Tahini Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 1/8 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 1/2 tbsp water
- Dash of salt
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mason jar or mug whisk together the tahini, lemon juice and garlic.
- The lemon juice will quickly thicken the tahini so wait until you are ready to serve the sauce to thin it out with water. Start by adding 1 tbsp of the water and whisking again, followed by 1 tsp at a time until you have reached the desired consistency.
- Add a dash of salt and serve on top of your chosen dish or alongside it for individual portioning.
