Herb and Garlic Dip
This high-protein Herb and Garlic Dip will be your new favourite recipe to pair with fresh veggies and crackers or to use as a spread on sandwiches. It’s quick and easy to whip up and packed with protein!
One way to make raw vegetables more exciting is by pairing them with a delicious dip. I tend to have tzatziki or hummus in my fridge to enjoy with veggies or crackers, but it’s always nice to mix it up. Adding variety to our foods can be so helpful in making the experience more enjoyable!
Plus, the summer gardens will be blooming very soon, which means the fresh herbs are ready for us to eat! We have been growing and loving our indoor garden this spring. There has been a ton of fresh basil and dill, so I decided to use these two herbs in this recipe.
The cottage cheese and the Greek yogurt both offer an excellent source of protein in this dip, which is a great way to feel more full and satisfied from snack time.
- 1 cup of cottage cheese provides about 26 grams of protein!
- 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt provides about 17 grams of protein!
Ingredients for Herb and Garlic Dip
This dip could not be easier to make. All you need are 5 ingredients!
- Cottage cheese
- I recommend choosing the cottage cheese with 2% M.F. (milk fat), so that it provides a bit of creaminess. The little bit of fat will also support the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin A, D, E and K.
- Plain Greek yogurt
- The same goes for Greek yogurt, I recommend choosing the yogurt with 2% M.F. (milk fat).
- Did you know Greek yogurt provides at least double the amount of protein compared to regular yogurt? The thick consistency and the creaminess of 2% Greek yogurt helps create a great texture for this dip.
- Basil
- There are a many different types of basil but I recommend using Genovese basil or Sweet basil in this recipe. No need to chop it up before you throw it in the food processor!
- Dill
- The fresh dill adds a fresh flavour profile that is similar to tzatziki.
- Garlic
- We can’t have a savoury recipe without garlic! I recommend using fresh garlic cloves that are crushed or chopped instead of garlic powder.
