How to make Everything Bagel Cashews

Not only is the everything bagel seasoning easy to make, but thankfully, so are these roasted cashews. Here is what you need for this recipe:

  • Raw cashews
  • Oil
    • I recommend using avocado or olive oil in this recipe.
  • Everything bagel seasoning
    • Also known as everything but the bagel seasoning.
    • You can use the store bought version or you can easily make your own using this recipe.
  • Honey
    • This is an optional ingredient but it gives the cashews a sweeter taste. It can also help the seasoning stick to the nuts during the roasting period.

Making these cashews is incredibly easy. All you have to do is:

  1. In a bowl, drizzle the olive oil over the cashews. You can also add the honey at this point if you decide to do so.
  2. Sprinkle on the everything bagel seasoning and stir well. Make sure the cashews are evenly coated with the seasoning.
  3. Spread the cashews out evenly on a prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes. Make sure to keep an eye on the cashews to make sure they don’t burn.
  4. Let them sit for about 10 minutes before enjoying!

How to store roasted cashews

I recommend storing the roasted cashews in an airtight container in a cool and dark place. You could also store these in the fridge for prolonged freshness. They will be fresh for about 1 week.

You can also add these cashews into a trail mix with other nuts or seeds. They would pair well with almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and more! This trail mix would add even more variety to your snacking options. It’s also shelf stable so can be taken on long road trips or hikes without refrigeration.

Health benefits of cashews

Cashews are a great snack to have around because they contain a variety of nutrients to keep you full and satisfied. The nutrition facts of 1 cup of cashews are as follows:

  • 4 grams of fibre
  • 23 grams of protein
  • a variety of B vitamins
  • a significant source of vitamin K
  • minerals such as iron, magnesium, zinc and more!

These cashews are vegetarian, dairy free and gluten free. They can also be made to be vegan if you disregard the honey. This recipe is NOT free from tree nuts so please be mindful if making these for anyone with a tree nut allergy.

How to get everything seasoning to stick to cashews?

There are a couple ways to get the everything bagel seasoning to stick to the cashews. First, you want to make sure the cashews are evenly coated with the olive oil before sprinkling on the seasoning. This will be the first layer that the seasoning can stick to. It also helps enhance the flavour during the roasting process.

You can also use the optional ingredient, honey. Of course, honey will add a sticky additional texture to the cashews, making the seasoning adhere even more! However, this will also change the flavour of the cashews. Using honey will give the nuts a sweeter taste.

It can also increase the risk of burning the nuts so if you choose to use it, keep an eye on the cashews while they are in the oven!
