Vegan Chocolate Mousse

What is vegan mousse made of?
There are a few ways to make vegan chocolate mousse but in this recipe, the main ingredient is tofu! Tofu is an incredible source of plant-based protein and with a very mild taste, it takes on the flavour of whatever it is mixed with. When it’s blended, tofu creates a creamy texture that I’m sure you will love!
Here is the full ingredient list:
- Soft tofu
- Cocoa powder
- Maple syrup
- Vanilla extract
Dietary considerations
This mousse is dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan. It is also a great source of protein and is low in sugar.

Vegan Chocolate Mousse Recipe
Making this mousse is extremely easy! Here’s how to do it:
- Once the tofu is drained, add this and the remaining ingredients to a food processor or blender.
- Blend until smooth and then transfer to a container and into the fridge.
- Refrigerate until firm and then enjoy!
I chose to keep this mousse completely plant-based for my vegan friends. If you don’t follow a strict vegan diet, you can use honey instead of maple syrup for the sweetener.

This is the perfect dessert or snack for you and your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day (or you and yourself). But I hope you love it so much that you make it more than once a year! Enjoy and Happy Valentine’s Day!

Vegan Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients
- 300 grams soft tofu, drained and pressed
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Make sure as much water is removed from the tofu as possible. Do this by pressing the tofu in between paper towels or tea towels for 5-10 minutes.
- Add all ingredients to a food processor or high speed blender. Blend on high for 10-20 seconds. Scrape down the sides of the food processor with a spatula and then blend again for another 10-20 seconds or until the mixture is completely smooth and combined.
- Transfer the mousse to an airtight container and store in the fridge for at least 1 hour to chill and set.
- Serve with berries or vegan chocolate shavings and enjoy!
