Ingredients needed

Here’s what you need to make this seasonal smoothie:

  • Frozen strawberries
  • Fresh peach
  • Plain Greek yogurt
  • Milk
  • Almond butter
  • Ground flax seed
  • Honey

Substitutions and add-ins

In case you don’t have some of the suggested ingredients or you want to personalize it to meet your own preferences, here are some recommendations for substitutions and additions:

  • Frozen peaches
    • I love to take advantage of peach season and use the fresh fruit but using frozen fruit entirely (strawberries and peaches) is absolutely okay.
  • Fresh fruit
    • Alternatively, use all fresh fruit and add a handful of ice to achieve a colder smoothie with a thicker consistency.
  • Flavoured yogurt
    • Instead of plain, you can use a flavoured Greek yogurt like vanilla, strawberry or peach to provide some of the same nutrients as well as extra flavour!
  • Plant-based milk
    • Instead of dairy milk, consider trying soy, oat or almond milk.
  • Orange juice
    • If you want an extra fruity flavour, opt for orange juice instead of milk.
  • Chia seeds
    • Adding chia seeds to a smoothie can change the texture slightly but it can boost the protein, fibre and omega 3 fatty acid content.
  • Maple syrup
    • Swap to maple syrup over honey for a sweetener.
  • Protein powder
    • To boost the protein content even more, consider adding ½-1 full scoop of protein powder to this recipe. See more information about protein powders below.

Third party tested protein powder

If you use protein powder, I recommend choosing a third-party tested product, which ensures that what is on the package label is actually in the product. Look for either the NSF or Informed Choice logo to verify it’s third-party tested.

How to make this Strawberry Peach Smoothie

This smoothie is incredibly easy to whip up. Here’s how to make it:

Add the milk first and then the remaining ingredients to a high speed blender and blend on high for about a minute or until it reaches a smooth and creamy texture. Pouring in the milk first will make the blending process easier and help maintain the strength and health of the blender.

Scrape down the sides of the blender and double check to make sure there are no chunks of fruit and the majority of the seeds have been broken down. Continue blending if needed. Serve immediately and enjoy!

How to freeze a smoothie

Save your valuable time and make a double or triple batch of this smoothie. You can store it for another time by keeping it in the fridge in a sealed mason jar or freezing it.

Here’s how to freeze a smoothie:

  1. Pour the remaining smoothie into an ice cube tray, filling up each ice cube well about ¾ of the way.
  2. Pop this tray in the freezer and allow it to freeze fully.
  3. Once completely frozen, transfer the smoothie cubes to an airtight container or bag and label it with the flavour of smoothie. Keep this in the freezer until you’re ready to consume it (up to 3 months).
  4. When you’re ready to enjoy the smoothie again, pop the frozen smoothie cubes in a glass and allow them to thaw OR add them to a blender with some extra water or milk and blend until it’s smooth. Enjoy immediately!
