When strawberries aren’t in season here in Ontario, thankfully we have access to those from California. Did you know that snacking on 8 of these flavourful berries in a day is equivalent to a whole serving of fruit?!

Not only do they bring colour and sweetness to this cocktail, but they also provide nutritional benefits. Packed with fibre and an excellent source of vitamin C, California strawberries are a tasty and convenient way to boost these nutrients.

A refreshing and healthy cocktail- what more could you need?

Strawberry-Lime-Gin-Cocktail

Strawberry Lime Gin Cocktail

Ingredients
 

  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp lime zest
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1-1 1/2 cups soda water
  • 3 oz gin*
  • 8 California Strawberries, diced
  • 1/4 cup cucumber, sliced
  • Fresh mint

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, lime zest and lime juice until combined. Stir in the gin.
  • Divide this mixture among 2 glasses and toss in the sliced California strawberries and cucumbers. Feel free to leave some for garnishing the glasses.
  • Top the glasses with soda water, ice (optional), and a sprig of mint. Stir to combine. Dress the glass with a slice of strawberry or cucumber for garnish. Cheers!

Notes

*Replace the gin with extra soda water to enjoy an alcohol-free version.
