Chili Garlic Salmon
Salmon has become a rotating staple in my kitchen, and for good reason! Not only is it packed with healthy fats and a great source of protein, but it is also super versatile when it comes to flavour. Sweet, savoury, salty, herby… it all works!
I find that the trick when it comes to getting the perfect salmon is the way it’s cooked. I grew up in a family that prefers the fish barely cooked, so this is the way I still prepare mine. Baking at a high temperature but for a short period of time gives the fish a flaky texture but maintains the moisture and flavours!
If you prefer your fish more well-done, just add 2-3 minutes onto my suggested bake time and it should be perfect!
I hope this seasoning gets you into the kitchen and perhaps even encourages you to try new things! Enjoy!

Chili Garlic Salmon
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh or thawed salmon
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tbsp onion powder
- 1/2 tbsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 2 tsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with tin foil (shiny side down).
- In a small bowl, combine the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, pepper, oregano and thyme. Stir together.
- Place the fresh salmon fillet on the prepared baking sheet and drizzle with the olive oil and then lemon juice. Using a spoon, generously sprinkle the seasoning mix on the salmon so it is mostly covered.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. If you prefer a more well-done salmon, bake for 2-3 minutes longer.
- Serve alongside rice and vegetables or on top of a salad with roasted vegetables. Enjoy!
